Buying ebooks from Kobo
For some time, I’ve been trying to avoid buying from Amazon, and I recently discovered something that helps me with that.
If you buy an ebook from Kobo, then find it cheaper at Amazon or anywhere else, they’ll refund the difference plus 10%.
Last week, I had occasion to test that out. I bought an ebook from Kobo for £4.99. Amazon had the same book for £2.99, so I submitted a price match ticket at https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/p/pricematch-about
Within two hours, I had an email informing me that I now had £2.30 (£2 difference plus 10% of the lower price) of credit in my Kobo account. They also sent me a single use 30% discount code (I have no idea if they usually do that or not).
I’ve now used the credit and the discount code. The price match ticket form could be a little simpler, but overall I’m very pleased. I suspect I’ll be spending more money at Kobo in the future.
